Asked & answered

Questions we're often asked.

Ask us anything

Replies in English within 24 hours, Monday to Friday.

Are batteries included?

No — batteries are not included. The battery type is listed just above the add-to-basket button and in the specifications, and any supermarket sells them.

How deep will it detect?

It depends on your soil, how wet it is, and the size of the object — so we don't print depth promises. See “Where it shines” above for the ground it suits best.

Can it go in water?

Where we say waterproof, we mean the search coil: wet sand, puddles and shallow water are fine. The control box is not waterproof — keep it dry.

Is it hard to assemble?

No. It arrives in a few pieces and goes together in minutes with no tools — shaft, coil, control box. The manual shows it step by step.

Do I need a licence?

Not in England, Wales or Scotland — but you always need the landowner's permission, and never on a Scheduled Monument. In Northern Ireland a licence from the Department for Communities is required before searching for archaeological objects. Read our plain-English guide.

Can I return it?

Request a return within 30 days of delivery by emailing contact@terravynor.com. We provide a prepaid label. See our Return & Refund Policy for conditions and your statutory cancellation rights.
